On March 17th, 2025, the IPAC referee training internal competition was successfully held, marking the official launch of the innovative sport of practical tactical archery.
Different from traditional competitive archery, practical tactical archery incorporates elements of actual combat and strategy. In this internal competition, complex scenarios such as urban street battles, forests, and mountainous areas were simulated. Archers were required to complete precise shooting in a dynamic environment, comprehensively testing their archery skills, tactical layout abilities, teamwork spirit, and rapid decision-making capabilities.
The competition rules have been boldly innovated. Abandoning the traditional ring-counting method, an electronic system is used to calculate the ratio coefficient of scores and speeds for ranking, balancing the two core elements of speed and accuracy, and making the competition rhythm compact and full of suspense.
On the competition field, archers shuttled through the simulated battlefield. Drawing the bow and shooting arrows were as smooth as flowing water, with their precise archery skills and flexible tactical coordination winning bursts of applause.
The person in charge of IPAC stated that this competition aims to improve the rules and referee system, laying a solid foundation for its global promotion. Although facing resistance from traditional concepts and difficulties in promotion, measures such as invitational competitions, demonstration competitions, and talent training are planned to be implemented to promote practical tactical archery worldwide. In the future, this sport is expected to attract enthusiasts from around the globe and may even be applied in special operations, becoming an important milestone in the development of archery.
